Dr Dre AKA Andrew (Andre) Young is considered by many, one of the most legendary stars in rap history. Ever since Dre was a kid, music was part of his life. Even though no one in his family was a musician, it was just something Dre loved. It wasn't until 1987 that he would be able to express that love of music to the world, when he joined the group "N.W.A". Dre had been part of another group in the past called "World Class Wreckin Cru", but it never went anywhere. NWA, was a fresh and new style for the streets. It represented Compton to the fullest. After several great albums with NWA, Dre left the group to become solo, due to label disputes. Dre joined the label "Death Row Records". That's where Dre's first solo effort was released in 1992 called "The Chronic". This album soon became a legendary and must-have album for any fan of the west coast. The release of this album also set off the careers of such rappers as, Dr Dre's younger brother, Warren G. It aslo started Snoop Doggy Dogg and Nate Dogg's careers. However, all good things must come to an end. Dr Dre left Death Row records shortly before the death of the late great Tupac Shakur. Dre left the label for many reason's mainly because the label was becoming too dangerous! So, Dre started his OWN label "Aftermath Records". Dre currently has one of the phattest rappers signed to it... Eminem. Some asked, "Has Dre fallen off?". NO! Of course not, Dre is back! He has a NEW album on the way, "Chronic 2001: No Seeds". The album will be tight! So, don't ya'll forget about the "Notorious Compton G" any longer, he's back.

A close friend of Dr Dre, Eminem (Marshall Mathers) was born in Kansas City. He lived a rather tough childhood, where he spent life traveling back and forth between his home town and Detroit. It wasn't until he was a teenager that Eminem began becoming attracted to rap music. He started performing underground when he was only 14. Later he earned credit as a member of the Motor City duo "Soul Intent". He made a solo debut album in 1996. It was an independent release called "Infinite". He later released one called "The Slim Shady EP". Both of the albums made it huge big in the hip-hop underground, he was only noticed by the exaggerated nasal-voiced rapping style. However, also for his skin color. Many people would have dubbed Eminem the "great white hope". Many people have different stories of what exactly happened next, but this is how we know it best. Apparently, one day the legendary Dr Dre was listening to a Detroit radio station in his limo when he heard Eminem freestyling. He immediatly called up the station and told them not to let him go. Dre knew right away that Eminem had talent and he had to sign him. However, Dre didn't sign him until he heard his true talent. Eminem took second place in the freestyle category at "1997's Rap Olympics MC Battle" that took place in Los Angelas. Dre was convinced. The Slim Shady LP was released in early 1999 and was a complete success. Right now Eminem is working on his new album, which is to be named, but is promised to be everything "The Slim Shady LP" was and more!
